The Fairy Tree

The Fairy Tree, Beginner
The Fairy Tree
When my husband and I visited Ireland, we were told about a famous legend about fairies and hawthorn trees. Apparently, fairies did not appreciate it when farmers cut down the trees in order to plow the fields, so farmers always left them alone. If not, who knows what the fairies would do? However, if you happened to spot a sheep lying under a Hawthorne tree, you'd be destined to enjoy many years of happiness.
We were driving down a country road bordered by low stone walls when suddenly, as luck would have it, we saw a sheep resting under a hawthorn tree! We stopped to take a photo, and sure enough, we've been blessed with luck, love and happiness ever since. Naturally, I had to do a painting based on this photo to express my strong feelings of joy and gratitude.
