Just a beautiful sky

This pastel painting was created after a trip to the German island Langeoog, where I witnessed beautiful, high skies with dramatic clouds over the beach and the tidal flats of the North Sea. I was inspired by the tower like clouds which were touched by the light in the higher section and blown by the wind into different directions. I painted this without underpainting directly with dry pastel on sanded paper.
