Winter in Point Reyes

This painting was done in many short sessions from early Novemeber to late January. Great care was given to finding accurate color, often I used a mirror to help. All the changes in weather, lighting, time of day and season were just left as is with very little revisions, making it a record of a place over time. Where it looks like a shadow on the hill from a cloud is actually an overcast day. The painting was begun when the grass was tan and gray but as the winter wore on it became greener. This process is recorded as well. It is an attempt to depict being in place over a long period of time.
