Woodland Fern

An exercise in bold, analogous color, this painting conveys the heavy, wet and rich environment of the Appalachian woods. The ferns and moss growing in the decaying tree trunk are a reminder of the cycle of nature; the release of one species' grip on life and the opportunity for other species to flourish.
